The best photo spots in Mexico for your feed

Not every photogenic spot looks the same at every hour. Callejón del Beso in Guanajuato, for example, looks best in mid-afternoon, when the sun shines straight down the alley without casting harsh shadows on the colorful facades.

In San Miguel de Allende, La Parroquia is one of the most photographed sights in Mexico — for good reason. The trick is to arrive 30 minutes before sunset and wait for golden hour, when the pink stone lights up. From the Fábrica La Aurora lookout you see it whole, with no poles or wires crossing the frame.

In Querétaro, the Aqueduct photographs best at sunrise, when there's almost no traffic or people and the low light brings out the arches. And in Zacatecas, the cable car up Cerro de la Bufa gives you a view of the whole city that changes completely between the ride up and the ride down — take photos both ways.

One general tip: always leave yourself some margin. The best photo spots are usually empty only for a short window, before the big groups arrive.
